With everyone’s amazing support we managed to get all our Golden Oldies adopted for Christmas this year.
You our supporters and donors keep our wheels turning. A big thank you to our monthly donors, it is a relief to know that we can count on you. To our once-off and anonymous donor’s thank you, your open hearts continue to amaze us!
Dear friends. Just want to give an update on Attie Botha, since he had to abort this last Food trip in Harare, on Tuesday the 10th October 17.
Hannes Botha:
I received a call just after 8pm on Monday the 9th of October telling me that Attie was in a very bad state and needed to come back down South.
I promptly stopped the work I was busy with, packed a bag and left Malelane 4am the following morning to head for the border. Once through the border I finally got to Bulawayo at about 8pm that evening. Dead on my feet due to all the sudden changes in plans I literally just dived into bed and passed out.
Annual Adopt a Golden Oldie for Christmas – 21 Boxes for our Golden Oldies Adopted for far, Yippee, Still 630 to go. Then The Frail Care parcels and Kitchen Gifts. It’s that time of the year again and we at the ZPSF would like to be able to make the upcoming Christmas of 2017 extra special for our pensioners Come on guys we can do this, let’s keep the momentum going!!
I left Malelane on Sunday the 6th to head off to my home in Tzaneen in order to try to get an early start as I still had to pick up some supplies in Polokwane the next day.
Dear Friends and supporters of the Zimbabwe Pensioner Support Fund,
These are the Golden Oldies you support with your donations. Crazy does not even start to explain how our year is going to date. Our Month August 2017:
I left the warehouse in Malelane early on Tuesday 30 May with Linda & Hannes having done all the preparations for the trip as smartly as they do. A small hiccup with the truck delayed me slightly in Mbombela but I was on my way to the border at about 10h00 am and all went well.
“Yesterday was Monday and a very blue one at that as we are in our third day without electricity and water and were all down in the dumps when a little whisper started. “Mavis*” came around and told us that the ZPSF crew were on their way with the truck. What wonderful therapy, it got us all going, tidying up and getting finished with lunch. I felt like running up to the truck and cheering but decided that it was rather unseemly for an old bird of 76 to run around like a 17 year old, but heck, I felt like one! If it were not for those” angels” we would surely starve. I am deeply touched and thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
*Name Changed – One of our Golden Oldies
We are once again having to place bulk orders for food and as everyone is more than well aware I am sure the cost of food has gone up dramatically over the past year and we are constantly being contacted with new names of pensioners that desperately need our help. This is making us have to turn every single cent 3x before we do anything with it. We only purchase stock when it is on special and then in bulk quantities to ensure we are using your donations in the most effective way possible. Your support is our sole source of income and we are doing the best we can with what we have, however we are at this stage just managing to support the current just over 1450 Golden oldies on our list. With so many still needing our help this is making my job as fund raiser for the Fund in 2017 a lot more challenging.
