Our Christmas trip for 2018 was completed at the end of November (Took Daniel 12 hours and a lot of patience in the extreme Musina heat to get through the border) and then both Daniel and Hannes got busy spreading some Christmas joy throughout the various corners of Zimbabwe. We made our target and all our Golden Oldies were adopted for Christmas, this was only achieved with everyone’s amazing support, Thank You 😊 Everyone was incredibly grateful to receive their much need parcels and they were all absolutely delighted with the special Christmas pressies and extra goodies. I will be sending out the much-anticipated trip report along with the photos as soon as I receive it from Daniel.
Please find in good order a quick update on what we have been up to so far in January 2019.
The office opened on Monday the 7th and the first week was spent catching up on everything missed during our shutdown. We have been aware of the building tensions and delicate situation for the last while and already at the end of last year we submitted paperwork to do bulk stock take ups early this year. We were however not quite expecting the current situation and are waiting to see what happens next, so that we can plan our way forward. We have the required paperwork in hand and are on standby to leave Malelane ASAP and get the parcels and stock up to our Golden Oldies. The situation in Zimbabwe is dire for everyone not just our pensioners, please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. I have attached a few photos of the stock waiting at the warehouse to go up and am just busy trying to get the USD required to pay the 40% and 15% VAT on the stock to get it through the border. So once again we manage to start a New Year with lots of challenges ahead. This will once again make my job as fund raiser for the Fund a lot more challenging this year. But I am looking forward to it and know and have faith all our supporters of our Golden Oldies will help me meet this challenge. We will still however be packing the boxes in Bulawayo as this just makes the border crossings easier.

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. ~Andrew Carnegie
