Dear Friends of The Zimbabwe Pensioner Supporter Fund,
Please let me start off by saying a HUGE Thank You to everyone who helped support our Winter trip for our Golden Oldies.
Please find in good order our Third trip report for the year from Neels Koekemoer. All the trip pictures are available here – https://www.facebook.com/www.zpsf.co.za. I hope everyone enjoys the ride along as much as I did. Thank you Neels, Johan and rest of team in Zimbabwe.
The past month since the end of the June trip has been chaos with a serious injury list. Johan broke his knee almost 6 years ago and it was fixed unfortunately it has only lasted this long and is now giving him serious issues and if not repaired ASAP will end up in knee replacement surgery. So after 2 weeks of specialist and tests he goes into theatre tomorrow for some repairs and modifications and will hopefully be good as new soon. I have a torn tendon in the right arm, this is also giving us lots of challenges all on its own as I can’t drive and now him with his knee! But as usual we will come right and sort everything out.
With everything that has been happening we have been fortunate to be able to ensure that most of what we will require for the upcoming August trip is either in or on its way to Zimbabwe, knowing what was coming up this week Johan did a stock transfer last week Thursday / Friday to hopefully ensure there should be no major hiccups. We might need the services of a volunteer to take the bakkie up and then assist Neels with the round trip depending on Johans progress.
Also, just a small note to inform every one of our 2nd upcoming winter Trip to Zimbabwe albeit slightly late due to circumstances. We are planning on leaving Malelane towards the end of August 2024 and with this being a very cold and miserable time for our elderly pensioners I am trying to raise funds to increase the amount of warm comfort foods, warm pap, soya mince, soup, 2 min noodles and so on that we can put in their individual boxes. So come on guys every little bit helps, PLEASE help us to keep our GOLDEN OLDIES warm and healthy this winter in other words almost a repeat of the fully loaded box they received end of June.
The situation in Zimbabwe is dire, and how is one to survive like this? The HARD truth is most of the population can’t and a lot of our Golden Oldies are totally at the bottom of the food chain and left reliant on the kindness of others. That is where we come in, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who assists us in whatever way, this would not be possible without you. I have also been informed that most of the homes that receive local goods in kind (Fresh produce, meat & Milk) have had their donations reduced dramatically. This is also placing a huge stress on the administrators and staff in these facilities. For this we are busy coming up with a solution to have a permanent active member of the Fund on the ground who will be able to hopefully at assist the homes in Bulawayo for now.

We are currently supporting just over 1050 pensioners in 26 homes, this is about 40% of our target base. We also support SOAP in Bulawayo and have helped to set up a system similar to SOAP in Gweru, Zvishavane, Masvingo, Red Cliff, Kwe Kwe and Kadoma to cater for pensioners that are not in old age homes as well. We are an officially registered Non-Profit Organization and Section 21A in South Africa and are registered with SARS as a Public Benefit Organization in terms of section 18A the Income Tax Act (Which means all South African donations are issued with a Tax Certificate and can be claimed back). PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE A TAX CERTIFICATE STATING ALL YOU DONATIONS. The following branches are registered subbranches of the ZPSF-SA, ZPSF-UK supporters can be issued with a Gift Aid Certificate via Betti-Ann McLean and the USA account is a Registered 501(c)3 organization and as such Tax-deductible receipts available for USA-ZPSF donors via Caron Berryhill.
