Dear Friends & Supporters of the Zimbabwe Pensioner Support Fund,
Thank you so much for helping us support our “Golden Oldies” during these very difficult times and helping to make a difference in improving their quality of life. Your support is invaluable to us at the ZPSF and we would never be able to sustain our regular supply of relief parcels if it were not for donations such as yours.
A quick update on Hannes our Chief who started this life saving Fund in 2002. He has to date received 8 rounds of Chemo. He is in good spirits and determined to beat this THING. We would like to thank everyone for the well wishes and prayers received so far. He is a firm believer that this will not get him down and he is going to carry on living as normally as possible!! And yes, he is keeping us on our toes.
Our October trip was underway with Johan Schultz and Edith Botha leaving Malelane on Saturday the 2nd , however once again we encountered a “slight” hick up in the form of an accident just after Louis Trichardt in which our bakkie was a write-off. We are incredibly thankful to have both people from the bakkie alive and still with us after narrowly missing a head-on accident that happened right in front of them only to be hit from behind and sent flying over the guard rail into a ditch. Myself and our son Frans drove up to Louis Trichardt first thing Sunday morning to collect them and arrived back late last night. So we are once again experiencing “technical” delays and now to get our insurance claim in and replace the bakkie ASAP. Once the trip starts Johan will be doing the Bulawayo route while Daniel Koekemoer will be doing the round trip with the UD 90. This is to be our second to last trip for the year with our next one being the “Magic One”.
After lots of scrambling we have managed to come up with a temporary plan and Johan and Edith left Malelane just before 12 on the 7th for the October trip, Daniel will be leaving on Monday the 11th. We are still waiting on the insurance and assessment, and then we have to look at sourcing a replacement vehicle.
Our final trip for the year (The Big Magic One) is scheduled to depart the 22nd or so of November 2021. And we are going full steam ahead with all the preparations for this trip.
Our annual Adopt a Golden Oldie for Christmas – 238 Boxes for our Golden Oldies Adopted for far, Yippee, only 482 Boxes to go. Then the Frail Care parcels and Kitchen Gifts. It’s that time of the year again and we at the ZPSF would like to be able to make the upcoming Christmas of 2021 extra special for our pensioners. Come on guys we can do this, let’s keep the momentum going!! A huge Thank You to everyone who is / has supported us. The current value of the Christmas single person parcels will be about R800 ($60) (£50). (SAME AS THE PAST 6 YEARS). Even if a group of friends make a joint donation to adopt a Golden Oldie or just add to the Christmas kitty for those who are not yet adopted. Your support will go a long way to help making them feel very special this Christmas. For those who would still like to donate towards the upcoming trip or sponsor one of the few outstanding boxes please find in good order the various ways to make a donation below.
The above amount covers a complete box for a Golden Oldie and not just a Gift. Please any amount no matter how small will help us achieve our Goals this Christmas for our Golden Oldies. Sometimes yours is the only GIFT they get!!

Prices in Zimbabwe of basics are increasing daily in both the local currency and USD, so no matter what funds, if any you have, you are constantly on the loosing side of the battle. There is just no relief. Our Golden Oldies who are currently most at risk are those who are not in an old age home. They are the ones with little to no support at all. They live in outside “Maids” quarters, in their own home (often falling apart) and for most of them almost total isolation. This is where our Outsiders lists are so important in trying to keep track and assist these Golden Oldies as much as possible. Letting them know we care is of utmost importance.
