This is the raw truth of the situation facing most in Zimbabwe.
No Power, No Fuel (Another Price increase), No Water and No Cash, therefore basic food supplies and Medicines are currently a luxury most can’t afford. Currently there is 10 hour water & load shedding although its normally a lot longer, sometimes days without water. Things just keep going from bad to worse with prices escalating at a rapid pace and stocks beginning to disappear from the shelves once again. We are busy going into winter and the weather is rapidly cooling down, we are hoping to be able to give our “Golden Oldies” a super full box packed with nourishing food supplies to help them survive and keep warm. The value of the local currency is changing / decreasing by the minute, the rate of inflation was measured at over 70% in April 2019. They are literally sitting and once again watching their money devalue into nothing, a repeat of 2009 but only worse and faster this time. Plus all our Golden Oldies are 10 years older and a lot less resilient.
Due to the current power situation I am also wanting to once again purchase solar lamps like we did 3 years ago for our Golden Oldies. It is a safe and reliable option. In order to supply each recipient / couple / family who receive a box I need to purchase at least 700 lamps. Now I know this is not food and it is not a Christmas present, but this is a safety and comfort issue. The below link will allow you to donate $20.00 and thus you can sponsor a lamp.

SOME WORDS FROM HANNES BOTHA @ THE ZPSF
In the 17 years I have been taking up these food parcels I can honestly say this is the first time that there has been a look of sheer helplessness in people’s eyes and a cloud of despondency hangs heavy over this once magic country. It is truly a heartbreaking situation that has once again come into effect.
In the last 4 months everyone who does not have access to forex (This being the majority of the population) has seen their living costs go up by at least double. If you have forex it’s not a problem. Of course, no one has seen their income go up by that. So, they are getting the same amount of money however their buying power is way less than what it used to be. Basic goods are now beyond most peoples means.
This whole situation is having a severe on many of our Golden Oldies, some of whom we have been supporting since we started. Getting basic meds is almost impossible, one can physically the strain and pain on so many of their faces, the weight loss and air of frailty that is hanging around these proud people.
It is truly heartbreaking that a generation that worked hard their whole lives,
made adequate provision for their old days should have to go through something
like this not once but twice.

On behalf of the Zimbabwe Pensioner Supporter Fund and our 1350 pensioners we are currently supporting I would like to thank you all once again for your wonderful support. A big thank you to our monthly donors, it is a relief to know that we can count on you. To our once-off and anonymous donors thank you, your open hearts continue to amaze us! The ZPSF would never be able to sustain our regular supply of relief parcels if it were not for donations and support such as yours.
Every 6 – 8 weeks more than 12 tons of food is transported in the truck and distributed to 28 homes / organizations. Wheelchairs, walking aids and basic medicine is also supplied to the pensioners. The supply trip lasts 8 – 10 days and a distance of 4000 kilometres will be travelled by the truck. The value of the food and the cost of delivering it to the pensioners in Zimbabwe is currently exceeding R350000 per trip.
