All I can say is WOW what a first half of 2023 we have had. We just cannot out into words the ups and downs of the last few months. Loosing so many invaluable members of our team and an unmentionable amount of our Golden Oldies. May they all be at peace now.
Our third trip for the year has been completed. This trip was done by Johan Schultz on the truckwith Caroline Nel and Angela doing the Bulawayo deliveries.

With our next trip scheduled for the end of July and the Zimbabwe elections being on the 23 or so of August we are hoping to be done way before they start as tensions are already seriously on the rise. Especially with the way the economy is busy crashing at the moment. About 2 months ago we received a Zim bond donation of 1.6 million which was exchanged for $920 USD, when Johan was in Zimbabwe now busy with the June trip we received a similar donation and when quoted he was told $210 USD and by the time he to exchange it (less than an hour later) it was $200 USD. Now sit back and imagine your money losing its value at that rate and the price of basic goods just going up. Your monthly pension is about 36k in bond, a loaf of bread is costing between 9k – 12k bond. So you are expected to live on 3 loaves of bread for the month. This does not take into account rent, meds, water and electricity.
We are also looking for anyone who possibly has bread mix contacts, at this stage it will mostly be for the homes, but we will be looking into how we can distribute smaller quantities to the individuals.
The Winter run with all the knitted goodies done by everyone has been a huge success. Thank you so much to each and every single person who made something for our Golden Oldies. Half was delivered now in June and the balance that has been received will be distributed during our July trip. The smiles were absolutely priceless.
During the June trip we were able to bring some extra smile to 2 Birthday ladies as well.

We have also once again had a flood of requests from Golden Oldies not on our lists for needing assistance and those on our lists requiring more help. We are currently trying to bulk up the boxes even more, however a large apple box can only take so much. At this stage we are currently waiting on queries we have out on stock availability for our next trip. However with the rate that food prices are going up this is just getting more and more scary, so please if anyone has a contact or an in with a company etc. who can supply us in bulk (3000 plus per order) of non-perishable goods if you can let me know. Even donations of about to expire products as these still have a shelf life after that date and the way we move stock they will be distributed ASAP to our Golden Oldies and used. Please any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.
