Dear Faithful Supporters of The Zimbabwe Pensioner Supporter Fund,
Sometimes in life there are just not enough or the right words to be able to say THANK YOU. This is definitely one of those times. Without everyone’s support out there this would never have been possible. We finally took ownership of the new girl Tuesday last week and she has already done one stock trip and is loaded and ready to do another one later this week. Getting our food supplies to where they need to be.
Please find in good order our Second trip report for the year from Johan Schultz. He was accompanied on the April / Easter Trip by Neels Koekemoer. All the trip pictures are available here – https://www.facebook.com/www.zpsf.co.za.
Also, just a small note to inform every one of our upcoming winter Trip to Zimbabwe. We are planning on leaving Malelane towards the end of June 2024 and with this being a very cold and miserable time for our elderly pensioners I am trying to raise funds to increase the amount of warm comfort foods, warm pap, soya mince, soup, 2 min noodles and so on that we can put in their individual boxes. So come on guys every little bit helps, PLEASE help us to keep our GOLDEN OLDIES warm and healthy this winter. I have about 3 weeks to get in the donations as we are getting ready to start purchasing the final goods required and then we are on to the packing again.
Just for interest, 11 years ago we packed our boxes for the First time In Zimbabwe due to border requirements and changes policy. Amazing how one must often change the way things are done in order to keep achieving our goals. So many things have changed in the almost 14 years I have worked full time with the ZPSF. But a few things will never change, one of them is that everybody in the Registered homes we support receives a box unless they request to be removed. This has been our policy since 2002.
“Statement Mission: This is a non-profitable Organisation and formed to provide pensioners in Zimbabwe with food and basic medicine networking with relevant bodies and institutions; and in humble gratitude to God Almighty.”

We only have 2 exceptions to the above and that is 1. Garden Park has 10 boxes delivered and these are all recipients that have moved from other homes or their private homes due to circumstance changes, please note we do not work with the home at all, 2. and Coronation Cottages who we vet. At Coronation Cottages we do checks with the administrators, home visits and take it from there as the home is currently too large for us to support everyone.
If we have a resident in one of the homes we support that moves and is box dependent, we try as far as possible to ensure their box follows them. We have had a few issues with this the last while due to weight constraints but are hoping to get back to normal. Especially with having the new truck which is a dash larger and can carry more weight. We are also hoping that with the assistance of Neels and Daniel Koekemoer and then hopefully volunteers to help take up the bakkie for the Byo deliveries we will be able to go up again 2 trucks allowing us to do so much more. So yes, once again hopefully some big changes coming as the need grows. This is all just so exciting!!!
The situation in Zimbabwe is dire, and how is one to survive like this? The HARD truth is most of the population can’t and a lot of our Golden Oldies are totally at the bottom of the food chain and left reliant on the kindness of others. That is where we come in, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who assists us in whatever way, this would not be possible without you. I have also been informed that most of the homes that receive local goods in kind (Fresh produce, meat & Milk) have had their donations reduced dramatically. This is also placing a huge stress on the administrators and staff in these facilities. For this we are busy coming up with a solution to have a permanent active member of the Fund on the ground who will be able to hopefully at assist the homes in Bulawayo for now.

The return of our annual No Coffee Day by the Zimbabwe Pensioner Support Fund, this is our way to let the World know of and show their support for our Golden Oldies still in Zimbabwe, whom we have been helping to support with food aid parcels and basic medical supplies for over 22years. Our Golden Oldies are part of an era that no longer exists, they stayed behind showing faith in a system, that not only let them down but totally ceased to exist. They have lost everything, farms, homes, life savings and in a lot of cases hope. This is where you come in, with your donations we show them that people all over the world still care about them. They may not necessarily be friends or family but there is a worldwide network of supporters who make what we do possible.
Please will you stand with us on Friday the 28th of June 2024 and show your support for the forgotten generation of Golden Oldies in Zimbabwe. Please share this as far and wide as possible. Don’t forget to nominate/challenge your friends, co-workers, Church Groups, local Newspaper and so on. It truly is for a good and valid cause. This is not just a NO COFFEE CHALLENGE. Quite a few of our supporters who don’t drink coffee use it for NO TEA OR NO WINE. Your support makes a world of difference to our Golden Oldies who literally turn to mush when the trucks arrive with their Individually named box, so that they know that box was packed for them.

We are currently supporting just over 1050 pensioners in 26 homes, this is about 40% of our target base. We also support SOAP in Bulawayo and have helped to set up a system similar to SOAP in Gweru, Zvishavane, Masvingo, Red Cliff, Kwe Kwe and Kadoma to cater for pensioners that are not in old age homes as well. We are an officially registered Non-Profit Organization and Section 21A in South Africa and are registered with SARS as a Public Benefit Organization in terms of section 18A the Income Tax Act (Which means all South African donations are issued with a Tax Certificate and can be claimed back). “Self-satisfaction makes life worth living. We live in a world that encompasses a major share of the poor and downtrodden. Each person may have a different need in his/her life. While some yearn for success, some don’t have the most basic amenities such as a shelter or enough food to eat. But that’s not all, some people may be in need of mere affection, those who are longing to see smiles. We are lucky to be living a comfortable life. How good it will be if we try to bring smiles to those sad faces? Generosity is an easily doable exercise. We all must remember one thing that helping others is a blessing in disguise. Because when we help others to grow, we grow in the process too. It adds value and meaning to our lives.”
Kind Regards

The 3 most important pillars of our cause:
UNIQUENESS – being one of a kind and knowing that the ZPSF is driven by good will and very passionate members.
TRANSPARENCY – enforcing the rule that all members must be fully informed before taking part in this noble venture.
ACCOUNTABILITY – Having a traceable paper trail for every cent handled, and regular revues conducted.
