Dear Zimbabwe Pensioner Support Fund Supporters and Friends,
Please find in good order what we are up to at the moment. As usual the first trip of the year has turned into a bit of a nightmare, not to go into too much detail but we are getting there and hoping to start the trip withing the next 2 weeks or so. Our warehouse in Bulawayo is currently sitting without power due to “complications”, this is a huge nightmare as where we pack we need lighting even during the day and power so that the sealers can be used as the products that are bought in Bulk need to be repacked and sealed. It also leaves the staff there without any source of power to at least be able to use the printer and laptop for the name changes and lists to be printed and boxes labelled, as well as the fridge to keep their food frozen and cool as part of the team stays there permanently to guard the boxes when we are packing due to theft. So please keep us in your prayers at this stage.
Also don’t forget if you would like to join us on a trip or be a driver on one of the vehicles to let Johan know johan@zpsf.co.za or call 0824979328.
There are tons of thank you’s, pictures and videos on our FB page from this past Christmas trip – https://www.facebook.com/www.zpsf.co.za. I have attached Neels & Daniel Koekemoer’s trip report on the partial round trip so one can get the feel of how awesome our Christmas 2023 delivery trip was.
We have had to come to a hard decision that our desperate need for a new truck is unavoidable and we really can’t delay any longer. I have attached the invoice as well as the Directors resolution with regards to the purchase. With me adding the fundraising link on PayPal last year we have managed to raise just over 500k Rand towards this purchase. Please if anyone can assist no matter how small it will all help us not having to take any money away from the food fund. This is our PayPal link and if you click on the options, it will show an option to donate towards the new truck. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=9ZQDM4CW696M2 . I can also supply Nissans banking details should one wish to donate direct. Please if you do donate any other way if you can send me a quick email at zpsf@zpsf.onmicrosoft.com as my linda@zpsf.co.za is currently having issues.
As usual there were a few organisations / people that were a huge help in ensuring the Christmas trip was the success it was:
- All our supporters and donors who sponsored the Golden Oldies and staff boxes
- Rhodesians Worldwide magazine & Chris Whitehead for helping us keep the memory alive, you can support them by subscribing to Chris on rhodesiansworldwide@gmail.com for $25 per year
- Colbro Bulawayo who assisted with a fuel donation
- Concrete Solutions in Harare who assisted with a fuel donation
- M’Dala Trust in Cape Town who covered the balance of the fuel cost and all the border costs
- Heymans Kole in Hectorspruit who assisted with a fuel donation
- Tau Meule from Brits for their donation of 12.5kg bags of maize
- Byrons Meat from Bulwayo for the meat parcels for Bulawayo
- Mr Rashied and Mr Calvin who supplied pallets to prevent the boxes being damaged in case of flooding
- To Rhodesian Association of Western Australia and Doug for the use of their bank account
- Our 2 wonderful teams who run the UK branch via Beti-Ann and USA branch via Caron, both of these 2 ladies are invaluable to us
Lets be honest, without everyone’s assistance these wheels would not turn and we are so grateful to everybody who assists us in which ever way possible. As most are aware 2023 was an incredibly difficult / emotional year for the fund and our Golden Oldies in Zimbabwe who’s tenacity is once again being tested to the max, but we are still here and on we shall go no matter what. For those who have been supporting us for a long time you have seen the regular trip reports, read all about the challenges, trials and loses we have had. This is not an easy undertaking by any means and trust me we take all the losses very personally. However, with everyone’s support out there and your continued prayers we are managing to keep doing what we do even in these unprecedented times.
Please note that at this stage due to personal reasons Bet-Ann is taking a bit of a back seat on the UK side, she is however still a Trustee. We would like to welcome Anne Tourle who will be using the zpsfuk@gmail.com email address to the fund and Thank her for her assistance.
These food hampers serve 2 purposes.
1 They supply much needed food to the pensioner.
2 The pensioner then knows that someone cares about them
