Our first trip for 2021 was being planned for end of January but due to current circumstances – paperwork delays due to ZIMRA being offline and us not being able to get the necessary Tax Clearance Certificates in order for us to apply for our paperwork, we are on standby so as soon as we do get the go-ahead it’s a go. The boxes are currently busy being packed in preparation this trip. We have managed to source 20 Oxygen Concentrators, and a whole lot of other PPE’s desperately required in Zimbabwe. This is going to be a double box delivery again with all the uncertainty that we are currently experiencing. For most of our Golden Oldies we are the only additional support they have, and these boxes are lifesaving to them.
Funding coming in towards our Golden Oldies is currently almost at a standstill and with the rising costs and the specialty PPE’s we have sourced for our Golden Oldies “I am kapping a stress”. I know times are tough for everyone, but I am keeping the Faith and know we will manage, somehow, we always do.
I apologize for also being a bit quiet and down on my side, but Hannes (Dad) has been in hospital since the 22 January 2021. He was moved from Nelspruit to Pretoria for surgery late on the 26th. He had an operation to remove a huge growth on Sunday 29th from his abdomen (Larger than a rugby ball). He is still in hospital but getting stronger slowly. He has a very long recovery road ahead of him. We are all waiting on his final conclusive test results. Please do not contact him directly. He needs his rest and is still very weak. We however were blessed to finally be able to visit him for his Birthday on Saturday. It was one of those days one will never forget, lots of laughs and tears shed. We love you old man!!!! And thank the Lord you are still with us.
As most are aware 2020 was a difficult / emotional year for the fund and our Golden Oldies in Zimbabwe whose tenacity is once again being tested to the max and 2021 is proving to be even more challenging, but we are still here and on we shall go no matter what. For those who have been supporting us for a long time you have seen the regular trip reports, read all about the challenges, trials and loses we have had. This is not an easy undertaking by any means. But with everyone’s support out there and your continued prayers we are managing to keep doing what we do even in these unprecedented times. The struggle and heartache is real and I am not sure that there is anyone left who’s life has not been affected by this pandemic in some way.

A quick update on myself : I want to sincerely thank everyone who made a donation towards my insulin pump. Your contribution and support helped me to achieve my goal. With the funds raised, I was able to purchase the Tandem X2 Insulin pump and 2 months’ worth of accessories. I was also able to get a month’s supply of the Dexcom sensors that work with the pump giving me continuous Glucose readings. I finally completed all my training and started using my pump full time on the 27th January2021. My arm operation I had in November is still healing but I am getting stronger and more use of my shoulder / arm every day. I have been told to be patient as it is a long slow process. There are just not enough words to say how thankful and grateful I am for everyone’s well wishes and support over the past few months.
We are aware of the current shortages and all the help and aid needed and are doing the best we can with what we have. Unfortunately, we can also not put our drivers lives in danger. It breaks our hearts to have to tell people we just can’t assist at this stage.
These food hampers serve 2 purposes.
1 They supply much needed food to the pensioner.
2 The pensioner then knows that someone cares about them

Thank you so much for helping us support our “Golden Oldies” during these very difficult times. Your support is invaluable to us and us at the ZPSF would never be able to sustain our regular supply of relief parcels if it were not for donations such as yours. Your continued donations are a very important life line to them reminding them that we are continuously thinking about them and still care. All of this happens because of people like you, our Donors ensure our wheels keep turning, you are all truly amazing. THANK YOU and God Bless.

DOING WHAT WE SAY WE DO.

The 3 most important pillars of our cause:
UNIQUENESS – being one of a kind and knowing that the ZPSF is driven by good will and very passionate members.
TRANSPARENCY – enforcing the rule that all members must be fully informed before taking part in this noble venture.
ACCOUNTABILITY – Having a traceable paper trail for every cent handled, and regular revues conducted.
“Self-satisfaction makes life worth living. We live in a world that encompasses a major share of the poor and downtrodden. Each person may have a different need in his/her life. While some yearn for success, some don’t have the most basic amenities such as a shelter or enough food to eat. But that’s not all, some people may be in need of mere affection, those who are longing to see smiles. We are lucky to be living a comfortable life. How good it will be if we try to bring smiles to those sad faces? Generosity is an easily doable exercise. We all must remember one thing that helping others is a blessing in disguise. Because when we help others to grow, we grow in the process too. It adds value and meaning to our lives.”
